The West Michigan Coyotes is the mountain bike team that I am a part of. I have been on the Coyotes since I was in 7th grade (2017). The Coyotes is a cross country mountain bike team consisting of kids from all across West Michigan. We are a MiSCA affiliated team which means that the team officially races in the MiSCA races in the fall every year. We start team practices around May or June every year. The team consists of Elementary, Middle, and High School kids. Many kids race for the Coyotes outside of the MiSCA race series also. In 2019, the Coyotes were High School Composite state champions and Middle School State Champions of MiSCA. In 2020, the Coyotes were High School Composite State Champions of MiSCA. For scoring, every race MiSCA takes the top 4 kids finishes from every team and whoever gets the most amount of points win (based on position). By the end of the 6 race series, whichever team has the most points wins the state chamionship. It works the same way for the Middle School. Both in 2019 and 2020, I was on the High School Team. The West Michigan Coyotes is a very important part of my mountain bike year because it is so much fun to ride with friends and to meet new people while riding at local, fun trails.
